Job Titles and Positions:
Civil Engineer/Civil Designer
Civil Engineer/Civil Designer
This position is for a hands-on experienced civil designer with advanced AutoCAD experience. Candidates should be proficient in civil planning using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Projects include a diversity of civil design, retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, wetland mapping, hydrologic and hydraulic models, and stormwater best management practices (BMPs) for residential or commercial site development, solar site development, roadway failures, and other related projects. This position requires in the field site conditions observation, installation inspection and verification, and occasional overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, and other team members in project planning, design analysis, and plan set production.
- Conduct a linear design for site development. Prepare grading and surface modeling in AutoCAD Civil 3D using corridor modeling and automated surface modeling grading techniques.
- Assist client with permitting, bidding, construction, and as‐built phases of projects.
- Prepare technical reports and exhibits to support planning, permitting and design phases of projects.
- Perform QA/QC construction materials field testing based on experience or with training. This is a key component of the job.
- Perform field geomorphic and geotechnical surveys for site evaluation. Assist with or independently prepare geotechnical reports. This is a key component of the job
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Associate degree in CAD with civil design emphasis, or in civil engineering with CAD capability and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or equivalent, with CAD capability and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in generating alignments, profiles, surface, and earthwork modeling, and be capable of producing plan production drawing sets with minimal direction.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Other Desirable Qualifications:
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel.
- Experience with GIS, Web Soil Survey, Lidar, and other mapping survey databases.
- Experience with the preparation of construction documents including erosion control, bid estimates, technical specifications, permitting, and technical reporting.
- An understanding of boundary, topographic, and easement survey information.

Driller/Assistant Driller
Driller/Assistant Driller
This position is for an experienced geotechnical driller, assistant driller, or driller helper for obtaining quality subsurface samples in a timely, efficient and safe manner as well as securing, caring for and then transporting samples to the laboratory while keeping accurate hand-written records of drilling and sampling efforts in the form of boring logs, specializing in both shallow and deep foundation investigations. Candidates not experienced in geotechnical drilling but have experience operating construction equipment are well suited for this position.
Preferred Certifications:
- Well Driller, or capability to obtain with training.
- CDL driver’s license preferred.
- OSHA 10-hour
Skills & Responsibilities Required:
- Ability to read and understand construction documents.
- Good communication skills.
- Travel to various job sites in a company provided vehicle
- Perform drilling and bore exploratory vertical holes into the earth to evaluate soil types and strength characteristics
- Prepare equipment and supplies for each day’s drilling projects
- Drive rig with equipment trailer.
- Inspect drill rig and trailer daily in general accordance with IFTA/DOT guidelines
- Perform routine maintenance on drill rig and trailer as needed, communicating extraordinary maintenance or repair needs to staff mechanic
- Operate hand-clearing equipment (chain saw, bush axe, etc.) as needed to gain entry to boring locations
Education:
- High school or equivalent.

Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
This position is for a field technician with 1-2 years’ experience in residential and commercial testing for earthwork and general construction projects. The position requires working in the field and performing testing in the lab. Experience in construction materials testing and documentation, laboratory testing, or construction inspections is required.

- Nuke Gauge Safety
- Laboratory Testing of soils and concrete

Senior Technician / Special Inspector
Senior Technician / Special Inspector
This position is a working role that may occasionally direct and lead other technicians to fulfill multiple project testing demands. The position requires working in the field and performing testing in the lab. Experience in construction materials testing and documentation, laboratory testing, or construction project management is required. Candidates with commercial construction supervision or management experience is a plus.
Required Certifications:
- ACI field test technician
- ICC or NCDOT for soils, earthwork, roadway and/or asphalt
- Nuke Gauge Safety
- Laboratory testing of soils and concrete
Preferred Qualifications:
- ICC Certifications for masonry, spray-applied fireproofing, post-tension, structural concrete, wood framing, or other ICC categories.
- CWI certification
Skills & Responsibilities Required:
- Ability to read and understand maps, blueprints, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
- Document accurate and detailed field activity/inspections and report findings/diagrams to the clients and supervisors on a daily basis.
- Communicate daily with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers verbally and electronically.
- Use electronic field equipment for documenting and reporting inspections.
- Professional communication skills.
- Ability to lead, train, and schedule other technicians effectively.
