Senior Technician
Senior Technician / Supervisor
This position is a working supervisor role. Besides scheduling other technicians to fulfill multiple projects testing demands, the position also requires working in the field and testing in the lab. Experience in construction materials testing and documentation, laboratory testing, or construction project management is a plus. Candidates with commercial construction supervision or management experience is a plus.

AutoCAD Technician / Civil Designer
Alpha Environmental and Engineering is seeking an individual with a passion for geotechnical engineering, civil design, and environmental remediation design to join our growing company in Asheville, NC. The advertised position is a full‐time, in office position however other arrangements may be considered for highly qualified motivated candidates. Candidates should have a background in drafting and design in civil planning and be proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Key responsibilities and desired qualifications are provided below. Projects include a diversity of civil design, retaining wall design, slope stability analysis, wetland mapping, hydrologic and hydraulic models, and stormwater best management practices (BMPs) for residential or commercial site development, solar site development, roadway failures, and other related projects. Candidates possessing a background in drafting and design and proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D will easily adapt to the various projects with internal training. This position requires occasional travel and outdoor field work.

Alpha Environmental and Engineering is a small highly qualified firm that historically produces well rounded qualified individuals that are rewarded with internal responsibility and pay advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, and other multi‐disciplinary team members in project planning, design analysis, and plan set production.
- Assist with linear design for site development. Use design to prepare grading and surface modeling in AutoCAD Civil 3D using corridor modeling and other manual and automated surface modeling grading techniques.
- Assist with permitting, bidding, construction, and as‐built phases of projects.
- Assist with technical reports and exhibits to support planning, permitting and design phases of projects.
- Assist with QA/QC construction materials field testing based on experience or with training. This is a key component of the job.
- Assist with field geomorphic and geotechnical surveys for site evaluation. Assist with or independently prepare geotechnical reports. This is a key component of the job
- Work independently and on teams to complete project tasks in a timely manner with a high standard of quality.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in CAD, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent; or professional experience with civil and/or environmental CAD design. All candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience. Candidates not possessing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s should have a minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D generating alignments, profiles, surface, and earthwork modeling, and be capable of producing plan production drawing sets with minimal direction.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
Other Desirable Qualifications:
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel.
- Experience with GIS, Web Soil Survey, Lidar, and other mapping survey databases.
- Experience with the preparation of construction documents including erosion control, bid estimates, technical specifications, permitting, and technical reporting.
- An understanding of boundary, topographic, and easement survey information.
Physical Demands:
- Part of the job requirements and the physical demands include work performed outdoors in weather conditions with potential exposure to wet/humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, and traversing uneven surfaces and lifting supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs.

Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
CMT technician with 1-2 years experience in residential and commercial testing for earthwork and general construction projects. Typical duties and responsibilities include: interact with clients and contractors, prepare field inspection and testing reports, perform field/lab inspections, perform forensic investigations, and testing of soils, concrete, masonry and other materials. ACI, soils, lab and Nuclear Density Gauge certification and experienced preferred. Work is typically outdoors in all weather conditions. Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
Qualifications:
- Current certifications and a minimum of 1 year experience in multiple disciplines as a Construction Materials Testing Technician or Special Inspector is required.
- Proven experience with soil classifications and engineering site recommendations.
- Prior geotechnical drilling is a plus.
- Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineer degree is a plus.
Geotechnical Engineer
Entry level or previous experience with subsurface soil investigations, geologic investigations, foundation investigations, slope stability analysis, and more. The ideal candidate will oversee and/or conduct subsurface drilling and fieldwork, prepare geotechnical reports and perform construction monitoring. Required: Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical/Civil discipline holding or in pursuit of EIT or PE registration.
Entry Level Positions - Field Technician
Candidates with certifications or experience, recent graduates in environmental studies, geology, and other science degrees are welcome to submit a resume with cover letter for consideration of open positions in the following areas:
